In the traditional Afghan society, women’s safety is extremely fragile, and they are constantly exposed to various forms of vulnerability.
Their only glimmer of hope was the existence of safe houses — they hoped that if they were subjected to torture, harassment, or domestic violence, there would be a place to seek refuge.
Now, with the closure of these safe houses, women facing domestic violence remain at the mercy of their abusers for an indefinite period, with no hope for escape or protection.
The Afghanistan Women’s Right Watch strongly condemns this hostile act, which constitutes a renewed violation of women’s rights.
